Wood Compost

I have a lot of rich compost from the top layers from a woods that is being worked on. My plants are already put into the ground. Could I put compost around these plants an inch or 2 deep?

Doug says sure - it's not likely "compost" but rather rich humus/soil or leaf mould - and this is great stuff to put on the garden. Too bad you can't leave it for the trees out in the bush but yes, your garden will love it. About an inch should do the job.
