I used to live in true "country" and miss the thick forest now and then, so I envy you your woods just a bit. Almost all the pines trees in the dry interior of this west coast province are dying or already dead. Considering that the majority of our trees are pine that is an unbelievable sight to see....a sea of red-brown trees everywhere. We had a fast moving epidemic of pine beetles that got out of hand with our mild winters the last few seasons.

On the other hand, I feel like I have close to an ideal spot in the city that sometimes combines the best of both worlds. Here, the wildlife is so tame that I can sit at the river's edge and feel like I am in the middle of a "national geographic" movie where I will see creatures I would never see close up in the real country. There are pros and cons to any situation.

Thanks for sharing you woods with us. I hope they stay healthy.

Did you ever see the words on a souvenir, "I pine and balsam for you?"

Really like the wide hill look picture reminds me of Black Hills of Wales.

Pines and snow go together!

I love the looks of pine trees covered in snow! At times it looks like frosting on the trees!
