Where is on-line a good place to go for materials

Where do you suggest to buy seeds, containers and a heating pad?

Chris - I don't usually keep track of things such as this - it's a big online world out there. I'm thinking of doing an entire section on "finding stuff" and your note suggests I should probably take the time to do this. But the short answer is that at this time, I don't have a useful suggestion

Garden seeds and supplies

First - You might pose your question to Doug's Forum so you get imput from a wide range of gardeners.
Many of us old time gardeners have favorites when it comes to seed companys to buy from. Tho, my preferences are from several sources. No one company seems to have all the varieties I am looking for. It also depends on what you are looking for? veggies? annual flowers? perennials?
Since you said seeds, containers, and heating pads, I assume the containers you are looking for are for starting seeds...not planters for the patio? For containers for starting seeds, I go the cheap route and collect them free each year from the local garden center that uses lots of 'containers' when potting large planters for customers. These containers are 3-6 packs, 2"x2", 3", or 4" pots - technically you should rinse in bleach solution to sanitize. I keep flats from year to year and get them from friends and neighbors...also the local garden center will sell them at a small price.

Heating pads are listed for sale in most of the seed catalogs.

Now for what it is worth, here are my favorite seed companies.
Johnny's Select Seeds - lots of veggie seeds including heirloom and organic
Thompson & Morgan - lots of annual and perennial flower seeds
Pinetree Gardens - many veggie seeds with fewer numbers of seeds / pkt so are much cheaper and great if you just want to try something new, many ethnic varieties
Underwood Gardens - organic and heirloom veggie and herb seeds based on good taste
Burpee - standard veggie and flower seeds
Seed Savers Exchange - huge selection of heirloom and antique varieties mostly veggies
(members can pick from thousands of varieties like 600+ varieties of tomatoes!)
Parks Seed - many veggies and flowers
Seeds of Change - organic veggies

Hope that helps!
