Trumpet Vine Propagation

I have a Trumpet Vine and would like to give some to a friend.

What method of propagation should be used for this plant?


Doug says 1) make sure it's not a good friend because once you introduce this spreading thug into their garden they won't be a friend anymore.

2) Dig up a seedling when dormant or...

3) Harvest some seeds - tell them to plant them (barely cover seeds) where they want them in the fall. The vine will germinate the following spring and they too can start fighting it back.

4) By tender tip cuttings in the spring.

Or dig up yours when it's dormant and give it to them. You'll get tons more next year from the seeds and the roots left in the ground.

Great question - mostly I get how to kill it - not how to propagate it. :-)
