Transplanting climbing rose in fall
by Nisha

Hi I have a climbing rose planted in spring this year that has grown ver well. Now I want to transplant it to another part of the garden. Can I do it now in FAll, or should I wait for Spring next year. I live in Toronto, Canada.
Thanks,
Doug says that not many people know that fall is a great time to move roses. As soon as the leaves start to fall off, you can dig and move it safely. Do move as many of the roots as possible and do dig a huge hole so they fit comfortably. You don't have to add anything to the planting hole, just backfill it and water heavily until freezeup.
This works for all roses and shrubs (remember a rose is just a woody shrub) and trees.
