Serenity

I took this picture in Dec 2002 at Purdue University, W. Lafayette where I was doing my post-doctoral research. I hail from the plains of India and I had never seen snow before. It was 24th of December and there was no sign of snow during the day.

Everybody was pining for a white Christmas. My friend Tanya kept telling me "they are promising a White Christmas on news".

I was skeptical. It wasn't snowing till late night on 24th. I get up on 25th morning and what do I see?

The whole parking lot of the apartment complex where I was staying (all the students had gone home, so there were hardly any cars) was converted to this white dreamland. I went crazy at this beautiful sight. Everything was covered with white, gleaming snow.

I grabbed my camera and just started clicking at this amazing sight.

I have seen many winters after that but this picture remains one of my favorites even today because it reminds me of how much joy and wonderment it had brought and how I had been awed by the wonders of nature.

Thank you guys for sharing your views...
It is amazing, isn't it? We are surrounded with so much beauty and magic and yet we scuttle around in an unrest to find that something that will give a meaning to our lives.....

It is a nice photo of the sunrise. So glad you got to see snow!
And no better memory than to have it in such a great location! Go Boilers!

Those of us who get snow every year sometimes forget the child like wonderment of new snow. Thanks for reminding us to see the beauty of the moment!
