by: Linda Marie

I am a "newbe". I tuned into your website because you reminded me of my Grandfather and his love for flowers. I love flowers too and until now, seemed I was doing more harm than good. My Shasta's a BEAUTIFUL..my roses died however, will try again tho. Don't know what happened to them..The whole stem to root turned black! Did the sun burn them? I don't know!! But thank you for being here for me! Linda

Your newsletter
by: Mickey D.

We are new to gardening. Although we have tried a few times over the years, we always got overrun with weeds and could barely find the tomatoes. This past summer, we made a better effort. We found your newsletter a little too late to help us, but I am finding more ideas and tips to prepare for next year.

The leaf catching idea with the snow fence brought back memories from my grandfather doing something similiar. It's been over 40 years, but I can still remember stringing up chicken wire and then having to rake them up and mowing them. I just could not understand why he wanted to do that. I just remember his garden (about 5 acres) was always plentiful and grew everything that he needed, with the exception of meat.

I am interested in starting my winter prep and we will be starting an herb garden for next year. I have read only some of your info on herb gardens, but it sounds very helpful so far.

I enjoy your newsletter and I am grateful for the information since gardening info in Minnesota is ambiguous, at best. I was happy to learn your method of planting rose bushes and I am going to try it this fall. You weren't clear on whether or not I can successfully RE-plant the bushes, but I will do it anyway and see if it works.

The only thing I would like to see is a 'question' icon that would allow me to just type in my question without all of the other steps. That would be awesome.

THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
by: Gloria Moulier

A big hi from Puerto Rico. Very helpful your comments and tips about gardening. I was looking for something to get rid of the snails from my garden, tried your hint about coffee grounds, and it works. Also an holticulturist friend of mine told me to use ashes from natural wood to get rid of snails and ants. Both things don't spoil the enviroment. Thanks for your advice. I will continue reading your letters and making use of your knowledge, and spreading the news of the address of your site. Any information about tropical plants will be great. A sunny thanks from Puerto Rico

It is wonderful to find an answer to just about anything having to do with a garden at one site. I like the way you have opened this up so that other fantastic gardeners have the chance to help with problems that arise. I have shared this site with my other gardening friends.
