split and cracking tomatoes

tomatoe lover,
Doug says - it's that time of year. Inconsistent watering or a period of cool, overcast weather followed by high sunshine gets the plant growing faster than it should. Or faster than the skin can expand to handle the growth - and you get cracks developing.
So - in our region, we've had a ton of rain and overcast and this week we've got sunshine - the skins are going to crack.
If you've been hit and miss with the water - then the skins will crack at this time of year if they get too much water and start accelerating their growth.
Constant water management is the key to non-cracking performance.
Bottom line - it isn't a disease - it's water management or how-you-garden related.
