Soil for growing new grass

What soil should I use when adding grass seed please?

Doug says, I'm not sure what or why you're adding grass seed to. If an existing lawn, you shouldn't require top soil. Compost and grass seed should be fine.

If establishing a new lawn, you're going to need at least 4 inches of good quality top soil to establish a lawn.
