Rose Hips

I allow a few wild rose bushes around the property so that the hips can serve as food for local woodland critters (hoping it will keep them off my other shrubs!) and these hips give a tiny flash of color in a palette otherwise full of greys.

Wild roses!
by: Shirley

It's just some wild variety that grows around here quite commonly. Some of them get HUGE. One on the edge of my woods is at lest 15" in diameter. They get small white flowers on them that only last a day and aren't very fragrant but bloom a lot over a short period of time. They'll really take over if left unchecked, but I allow them in a few areas. Good for the animals and for a color pop!

Color is good

It is always nice to have some color in the winter...so many of our photos turn out black and white! This rose really does have a lot of hips. What kind is it?
