Rose Gardening

Rose gardening is no more difficult than growing any other kind of plant. In most cases it is extremely easy and I should know because I’m both a lazy gardener and one who likes to experiment with growing plants such as roses. (and I also wrote two rose books but who’s counting?) :-) I note that like all kinds of gardening, you can make it more complicated and difficult than it really is. You can even become a rose expert – able to discuss parentage of rose breeding and chromosome counts – but I’m not. All I do is grow roses successfully and easily. No fuss and no muss. Here’s how I plant my roses, feed the little darlings, and prune for more flowers. To begin with, let’s talk about the different types of roses you can easily choose from. This page lists the most commonly available plants. If you're not sure which rose varieties you'd like to grow, here's some award winners. If you want to focus on great smelling roses, here is a list of some of the most fragrant and best growing roses. And if you're looking for general tips of on caring for roses you'll find guidelines for watering, feeding, pruning and spraying right here. General links to articles for insect control and diseases can be found here. And sooner or later, you're going to want to learn about pruning roses How about winter care for roses?
