Reusing Container Soil

Can I replant in soil I used last spring for growing vegetables? The containers are huge.Hubbie says they are 7ft. long and about 32 inches wide. They are made of wood .
One container held tomatoes and peppers, which did not do well because of caterpillars. The other container held butter beans.
If the soil can be replenshed and used again how should it be enriched? The soil that was used is Miracle Grow for containers.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Doug says all he does is dig up the container soil to loosen it up. Then I add compost to the soil (about a shovel full per square foot of container). Dig that in and replant.

Slick and easy. With larger containers, you're likely going to have to buy compost to do this but it gets your garden going well, provides the organic matter the plants have used-up and renews everything. It's also a lot cheaper than having to buy new soil every year.

Reusing Soil for Large Containers

Thanks Doug. I did replant before I got your reply. Hubby added a little 10-10-10 and tilled the soil using a small tiller cultivator.
I planted collards and an eggplant along with herbs as companion plants. They are doing well.
Next year I will use compost as suggested..
Thanks again,
San
