Plant Diseases

There are a wide range of organic garden remedies for plant diseases in the home flower and vegetable garden. This section is intended to give you a look at some of the more common problems and give you an organic, environmentally sound way to deal with them.

The Most Common Problem

Botrytis. is the most common fungus (pictured on this geranium) in the world.

It takes many different forms from a simple gray mould on geranium flowers to blotching black spots on peonies. It is Mother Nature’s first line of attack in breaking down weakened flower tissue for recycling. No matter whether you want that flower bud or leaf – botrytis is the first wave of recycling. This article describes common and effective non-chemical controls.

Rose Problems

Powdery mildew. You’ve likely seen it as a light dusting of white on leaves that lead to twisting and deformed leaves. The tips of growing rose canes twirl and are deformed. Brown-eyed susan and lilac leaves are routinely dusted with white before the season is over.
