Ninebark Summer Wine

I really am amazed at this Ninebark retaining such a rich, dramatic colour through our wicked summer .. it just kept getting darker and darker and certainly made the best contrast of dark foliage I have seen yet in any plants !

Hi Christa .. it is funny you should speak about the powdery mildew showing up. I haven't had that problem with the Summer Wine .. BUT .. it has shown up in Coppertina and Center Glow .. It may be just a little set back for them since both were just planted this year. My Summer Wine is on it's third year now with great open air circulation.
I really am a fan of Ninebarks now.
We lived in Holland for four years and we always amazed by Dutch gardens no matter how small . Were you able to see any of the Netherlands while you were in Europe ?

I agree with you, Garden Joy, we purchased 2 plants
this year, which we planted in two containers. As we are getting the garden ready for winter, we found some (we hope!!) suitable locations, where they are now "resting" and hopefully display another year of beautiful foliage. The only thing I've noticed, when I got back from my trip to Europe, the tips of the branches showed some powdery mildew. By pruning back these tips, I hope, next year will be better.
