Do you have to remove the pods that cover the nasturtiums seeds before planting. I have been removing all by hand, is the an easier way, OR will they grow if planted with pods left on. Would appreciate your answer as soon as possible as I am in the process of planting them . Thaking you in advance.

Doug says you'll get better germination if you remove them. I know it's a lot of work but that's the way it sometimes is in gardening and sowing seeds. Having said that - you'll find if you slightly cover the seedpod that the pod will split and allow the seeds to germinate. The problem with this is that you'll sometimes get a bunch of plants in one place and none in another. Not great gardening.

I have been told to file the seeds down till you just see the next layer plant your seeds and watch them grow.

Doug says you don't have to do this with nasturtium seed. They're easy right out of the pod or pack
