My Winter Pond

My Winter Pond

This is the pond we built last summer. We have left it running this winter and it has been a mild winter so far. There are 6 fish hibernating in the bottom. Nothing gives me more joy than this waterfall and pond. And my mind is alway working to thing of what I can do next.

We have a 2 pumps. We have a heater in the pond too. Where the fish are it is 10 feet deep. Plus we cut one flower pot in 1/2 for them to hide in from the heron that visits in the summer. That is last years picture. This year we have turned the pumps on and just have the heater. We have seen at least 3 0f the 5 fish that was there in the fall. Thanks for your comments....

HI: I'm curious, how deep your pond is, & if you keep an pump to aerate, for the fish. If so, does the pump go off [stop] once in an while, is that necessary to keep the ice from freezing over in PA area. Any pests, to steal the fish, if not can you gt 6-7 yrs. life span, looks like fun eh!

Nice !

Helen .. I'm very jealous ! LOL ... I don't have room for a pond and I know how wonderful it must be to have one .. the sound of water and seeing the fish is a wonderful treat .
Nice picture ! You must have great pictures of it all year round.

This pond looks beautiful with Winter's white coat around it.
Do you keep aeration going or some other system to keep the ice from completely sealing your pond or is your climate mild enough to not need to use de-icing procedures?
