brown flying striped( Indian meal moth)

by Kathy
(Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada)

About 1/4-1/2 inch long....annoying....don't know where they are coming from. Swat several per day in last two weeks. Have pincers, usually flying around, noticed now some on walls. Help, want to get rid of them. I do have houseplants but can't find on any of the plants.

brown moth orange markings (Cecropia Moth)

by Darlene
(Rogers, Ohio, USA)

My grandaughter noticed this amazing looking butterfly hanging off our front porch. We live in a rural country area and I have never ever seen anything like it so I would appreciate it if you could let us know what we were looking at. Thanks so much for your time. She'll be thrilled to know what it is as will I. Thanks again.

Orange Fold Wing Moth (Woodland skipper)

by Deborah Mitchell
(Whidbey Island, WA)

About 1/2" to 3/4" long. Front wings appear to be folded up. Fuzzy abdomen. Antenna appear to have dark spots on the ends. Wings are orange/light brown. Very quick to fly away, very sensitive to my trying to get close enough to take a good picture. Fairly fast flier in comparison with other moths.

Several showed up today. All sitting in my flowering oregano, but not on the flowers... down below.

Location: Whidbey Island just north of Seattle WA.

Thanks Moni... I've never seen anything like this.

Brownish/colored insect (Silk moth)

by Michelle
(Columbia Heights, MN USA)

This was in my nieces backyard in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, Hennepin County. She was gardening and saw this and took a picture which I have uploaded to show you. She went to get her daughter to show her and when she came back it was gone. We are really wondering what is it? It seems to be larger than anything we have seen. Any help you can give us in identifying this insect would be helpful or at the very least make us feel better knowing what it may be.
