Iris soil requirements

I am interested in growing Iris here in NZ. And have decided to grow them in old tires. I have to know what I can put in these tires. I have, bark, mulch, potting mix and compost and want to know if this mix is OK?

Doug says that iris will grow in anything. As long as the soil isn't waterlogged you'll be fine.
