Insects have rose preferences

I just read the article on the John Cabot rose with worms. I had been considering replacing my Baffin explorer rose with a John Cabot in the hope that it would be a little more insect free. Apparently not. On the other hand, I have other climbers, with thicker canes, that are not plagued with these worms. Is it the Explorer line of roses that is particularly susceptible? Please help. Those little green worms are impossible to keep down. I am so tired from trying and the rest of my garden suffers because of the time it takes. If there are climbers that are known to be less susceptible to the green worms that would be great.

Doug says - I don't know of any roses that are less likely to be attacked by this rose slug. Interesting observation - I've had them go after darn near every kind of rose I've ever grown. So if you have climbers that they don't attack, I'd go with them and forget the ones they eat in your garden.

Are Explorer roses more or less susceptible? I've never heard or read anything either way. But I'm sure that others will have comments along the way.
