Horse Manure
In the winter we (my husband and self) pick up the horse poo from the paddock and put it in a bin, it is not mixed with any straw or whatever for the proper composting technic. Is it a good idea to use this as compost in a couple of years (2) or not? I have recently covered some clay soil with it and thrown some grass seed on it to see what will happen.
Thanks for the info in your newsletter

Well, organic gardening is just "different" than chemical gardening. In many ways it is easier - in some ways it is harder. For example, I have a hard time sometimes with "patience" - because I want the garden to be "now!" rather than waiting for Mother Nature to sort out the problem or make it better (as she mostly always does) :-)
Re composted manure. If you've let fresh manure sit for 2 years, then yes, you can use it with no problem. The difficulty of course is that if you use it immediately the high nitrogen content will burn plants. But after two years, the N content is going to be quite low and you shouldn't see a problem.
I note that using straw bedding will give you more compost and slightly better compost for a very little bit of money. I'd be using the straw as well but then again, I don't know how you're stabling the animals.
