Holes on Hostas, not from slugs

by D.B.

I have holes in the leaves of my Hostas this year...I've baited for slugs, but aren't catching anything, so it must be some sort of other pest or fungus?

Doug says it could be any number of beetles, flea beetles - unless you can see them, it's hard to identify.

But a dusting with diatomaceous earth should stop them cold.

Hello
Dave here in Chicago I get the same holes in my hostas but have never seen the bug doing it. I also only get these bugs late in the season most of the summer no problems,
