Hoarfrost In The Garden

by Cathy
(Listowel, Ontario Canada)

On Boxing Day 2007 I awoke to a beautiful sight. The air was crisp, the sun was shining and everything outside was coated in sparkling white. Hoarfrost had come to the garden. This photo is a result of an up close and personal inspection. It appeared as though thousands of fuzzy little pipe cleaners had attached themselves to the branches of my weeping birch. Throughout the day it fell off and floated to the ground like snowflakes.

I hate the cold, but love all of the textures of the season!

cool looking branches, I always wondered what hoarfrost looked like, we don't see that here in Michigan much.
