Garden Bench Design

I rather like the thought of garden bench design because I emphasize in all my talks that if you don't have a place to sit in the garden, the only time you'll go out there is to work. So put in a garden seat. When it comes to actually designing a bench, the rules of good design hold true - whatever you decide to use has to match the rest of the garden. There's little point putting plastic in a formal garden. Match your garden theme so that the bench is part of the design "story". Getting the right bench is also determined by what materials you decide to use. I've seen (as the pictures below indicate) almost every kind of garden seating you can imagine. From rocks piled up to the fanciest of old wooden handcrafted benches. Again, it's what is in your budget and what's in your design. Rather than me blathering on, let me simply show you a few pictures that might help you figure out the kinds of things that might work in your garden. Most of these examples feature stone and I'll be building another page with wooden seats. | Carved stone bench. | | Metal Chairs with a Stone Table | | Stone garden bench in formal garden |
