do roses and spider wort grow well together

will these two plants grow well together, with the spider wort surrounding the base of the roses?

Doug says he wouldn't grow them together in his garden as the Tradescantia (spiderwort) will require a lot of water - constant - to keep blooming and the rose is going to resent this amount. Having said that, you may find your results vary with your soil and climate.
