deterring cats

is there any plants that will deter cats from coming into my garden and making a mess thank you

Doug says there are a ton of marketers who would have you believe that their plant will deter cats but the real data here is that no single plant will deter cats.

Well, lawn full of cactus thorns would probably stop them :-) but that makes it kind of hard to wander out there yourself.

So - the quick answer to your question is that there are no plants that really deter cats. Sorry.

Deterring Cats from using your garden as a litter box
by: Jenny from the Bay

For years, my otherwise delightful cat Pouncer made a litter box of my row of Cosmos. I had noticed he sneezed when sniffing an old garnment which had been stored in Moth balls. The following year as I planted, I also planted a moth ball every foot or so in my flower bed, just below the surface. It desolves throughout the season. Now, no cat poo, & the Finches dislike it as well, keeping them from taking seeds before I can get to them.

Cat deterrent

I live in the country and I have all kinds of critters that liked to get into my garden, from cats, deer, coons, possums, etc. The only effective way I found to keep animals out was to put up an electric fence made for small animals. If you live in the city, you might have issues getting permission.
