Damping Off Remedy

Good Morning Doug, I've been getting your newsletter for several years now. I no longer consider myself a novice gardener (after 25+ years) but read all articles related to gardening from newbie to expert. Gardeners come up with some ingenious ideas and you never know where you'll get a fabulous new idea from!

I have tried many organic remedies for damping off and wondered if you'd ever tried ground cinnamon?

As you said, make sure to keep seedlings moist but not too wet, even temperatures etc. but as an added measure, after planting your seeds, simply sprinkle a light coating of cinnamon on the soil. Cinnamon is a mild fungicide. I've had good results with this method and live in snow country. Most springs here are very damp. Happy Gardening!

Doug says I have heard of using it and I'm delighted you shared your experiences. Let me suggest that great ventilation and warm soil temperatures will almost completely prevent this problem from happening. But good to know that this works for you.
