Cutting Back Curly Willow

I live in Innisfil, ON. I have a couple curly willow and have snipped off a few branches to root and grow. I believe I heard or read that the entire plant can be cut back in the spring and will grow back even fuller during this season. Is this true?
I truly enjoy all of your articles. I ordered the items needed and began making compost tea last summer, after reading about it and watching your videos.

Doug says that any willow will grow back and thicker if you whack it to the ground. Most shrubs will actually and this video explains the reason why. (and yeah, I know the link goes to a fruit tree pruning but these two pruning cuts work on all plants)
