caring for a potted rose tree in Zone 10

What does yellowing leaves indicate?

How can I protect my rose tree from the heat in zone 10 in the summer.

Doug says that yellowing leaves indicate stress on the plant. Either water stress, heat stress or whatever kind of stress. They can also indicate a severe case of black spot. But generally, it's a watering problem when your plant is in a container.

Except if you're in zone 10 and then it could likely be a root heat problem (your pot absorbs too much heat and the plant roots cook)

How to protect your rose tree? Put it in the shade during the heat of the day. The deal here is that (frankly) growing roses in zone 10 isn't the kind of climate that really does well for roses. You have too-high soil temperatures in the pots, too -igh air temperatures for the leaves to keep growing. And such high-light intensity that this kind of heat is almost impossible to avoid.

So - cool off your rose for best success.

Or find another plant that's suitable to grow in that climate.
