Do you know the way to San Jose?
by Jane Brunton
(Camden East, Ontario)
Blown off course
This polyphemous moth spent the better part of the day hunkering down under a flower. Next morning he was gone. I hope he gathered the strength to fly away that night.

'wild' flowers - more detailed -
by Christa Krueger
(Kingston,Ontario,Canada)
A few years ago, this plant 'showed up' in our garden.
Now, very controlled, I let it grow in places, where it is a perfect companion to other woodland natives, evergreens & ferns. It could also 'take over', if one let's it.

Hot Mamas
by Peggy
(Fort Wayne, IN US)
I loved the hot combination of the red daylilies and the yellow flowers which is why I took the picture. I think the yellow flowers are painted daisies--not sure--they reseed everywhere and so this wasn't a planned combination, but I love the sunlight in this photo and the yellow throats of the daylilies compliment the daisies very nicely. It warms me up just looking at it!

Adult Mantis interrupting his lunch to pose for photo
by Gregory Blount
(Grand Lake, Oklahoma)
Pest Control, if you please
While inspecting my gourd vines, I found this adult Mantis stalking his prey. By the time I got to the house, got the camera and got back to the garden, he was already feasting on this grasshopper. He was kind enough to interrupt his meal, turn and pose for this shot.
Looking forward to seeing more of his family!

Strange harvest
I don't know what it said either. I can't read lips.

Cypress Vine takes over Forney!

Beautiful Climber!
This is a cypress vine that I planted this spring. It is a favorite of our hummingbird population, and they often fight over the cluster of red star blooms.
My 'Showy Lady's-slipper'
by Christa Krueger
(Kingston,Ontario,Canada)
After many years of trying to get my hands on one of these, 2 years ago, I was lucky.
Last year, it showed me its happiness by coming back to life in early spring. What a wonderful delight, seeing three buds appear and within 2 weeks all three were fully open. God must have had 'painting lessons', of course not, he knows how to create everything so beautiful.
I said, "STOP TAKING MY PICTURE!"

I said, "STOP TAKING MY PICTURE!"
Usually this little guy loves the attention I give him. Sometimes he even seems to pose for a picture or two. But this time when I tried to snap his picture he really gave me a tongue lashing. Just wanted to be left alone I guess.

This little Chipmunk is one of three, who chase each other around like little kids. This one is very 'tame' - no care in the world, while having his lunch

Geraniums, Delphiniums and Pansies
Nothing in my vast garden has given me more pleasure than these containers with Geraniums, Pansies and the Delphiniums that I finally had success with from seeds. Late afternoon, relaxing in that old comfy chair after digging and hauling in the garden, just enjoying the warm air and looking around at the small plants' progress..............ah! The current occupant of the chair lets me use it whenever I want.
